A new build design located in Glounthaune, county Cork. The site had previously been granted planning permission for a multi-storey dwelling, which the client decided wasn’t to their taste.
The steeply graded site overlooks the water and has great views towards Fota Island and Fota Castle. Deceptively difficult to fully appreciate from road level because of the topographical nature of the site, combined with extensively mature trees, the site offers great privacy at an elevated position.
A strong grounding presence of stone is the primary treatment to the lower level. The upper living area is a mix of white render and a defining black pressed metal cantilever.
The first floor living area allows full potential for great views south over the water, with various external spaces at this level situated to work for our clients at any time of the day.
The technical stage of the project is due to begin in 2023.
